Meet Penny
I moved with my husband to Agoura Hills in 1998 so that our children could grow up in a family neighborhood and attend excellent public schools. I had decided to take a break from my work as a motion picture film editor and I knew that to become part of our new community, I would have to get involved.
I started as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and soon became more involved in the schools. I was Parent Faculty President at Willow Elementary School, Lindero Canyon Middle School, and Agoura High School. I also served on many Las Virgenes Unified School District committees, working with teachers and staff to solve problems and create new programs. When our youngest child graduated high school, I established Knowledge Counts Summer School for our local high school students which ran from 2012 to 2018.
I served as an alternate board member for the Agoura Hills Calabasas Community Center from 2019 to 2021. In 2021, I was appointed to the Agoura Hills Planning Commission. In September 2022, I was appointed to fill the vacant seat on the City Council. Currently, I am Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Agoura Hills City.
I was born in London, England, and grew up in Jamaica and Ireland. After graduating from Sussex University (England) with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, I relocated to Los Angeles in 1977 to work in the editing department of a feature film. I have lived in California ever since.
I became an American Citizen in 1994. I love to travel with my husband Don, walk our dog Ivy through our neighborhoods and spend time with my extended family (I am one of 10 siblings, 5 of whom live in the LA area).
I have called Agoura Hills my home longer than any other place in the world. This city is my forever home.
